Steamboat Trip on the Yarra River

My friend and I had a hour or so to spend in the city before attending a concert in Melbourne Town Hall. We decided to go on a short boat trip on the Yarra. At Southgate we boarded a classic steamboat built in 1924, the MV "Grower". We had a very enjoyable time cruising half an hour upstream and half an hour downstream.

The photographer Rennie Ellis (1940-2003) was a key figure in Australian visual culture.
THE RENNIE ELLIS SHOW highlights some of the defining images of Australian life from the 1970s and '80s.

The photo storyteller William Yang and photographer and writer Robert McFarlane were among the special guests.

DECADENT 1980-2000 was launched. The book highlights Rennie Ellis as one of Australia's most important chroniclers of the 1980s and '90s.

Robert McFarlane and Stephen Dupont signed copies of DECADENT 1980-2000 as well as DECADE 1970-1980 (published 2013) by Hardie Grant Books. Stephen Dupont was the photo editor of both books. They are available in the MGA bookshop.

Rod Moss: Whitegate - Where Art and Life Collide

The exhibition Rod Moss: Whitegate - Where Art and Life Collide opened at Burrinja Gallery on Sunday 30 March 2014. I was impressed by Rod's paintings which are a result of his unique and close relationship with the Arrernte community of Whitegate, a town camp on the outskirts of Alice Springs. The artist has been a resident of Alice Springs since 1984.

Writer and human rights advocate Arnold Zable who is a friend and admirer of Rod's work.
