Belgrave Lantern Parade 2013 - Part Three

Visitors to the Belgrave Lantern Parade line the Main Street for the start of the procession.

They came from all over Melbourne - an estimated crowd of up to 6000 people.

Belgrave Lantern Parade 2013 - Part One

I was asked by BELGRAVE LANTERN PARADE to take photographs at their 7th annual Parade. It was my first time at the event and I was delighted to be part of it.

Belgrave Lantern Parade artists have been helping the community make lanterns with their program of workshops and demonstrations which lead to the annual Winter Solstice Parade in June.

PREPARATIONS

By 4pm Saturday 22 June 2013 last minute preparations were carried out at Belgrave Library -
fixing of lanterns and handing out large existing lanterns to volunteer carriers.

Survival Day - Australia Day

On Australia Day, Thursday 26 January 2012, I attended Belgrave Survival Day.

This annual event celebrates indigenous culture though music, traditional dance and story telling.

It was an enlightening event for me - a significant and joyous occasion.
